Description
South and Southeast Asia's textile and apparel exports form the backbone of global supply chains, providing fabrics and finished garments to major fashion brands and retailers across the United States, European Union, and United Kingdom. However, rising tariffs, shifting U.S. trade policies, and broader U.S.-China trade tensions have brought both significant disruptions and unexpected opportunities for the region. Please join ASPI for this timely conversation with trade and policy experts as well as industry leaders to explore how shifting U.S. trade policy, including recent tariff adjustments and the ongoing 90-day policy pause, is impacting the global textile and apparel landscape, with a particular focus on South Asia and Southeast Asia. The panel will feature Dr. Rubana Huq, Chairperson of Muhammadi Group in Bangladesh; Hilary Milnes, executive Americas editor at Vogue Business; Julia K. Hughes, President of the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA); and Shay Wester, Director of Asian Economic Affairs and Outreach Director at ASPI; moderated by Farwa Aamer, Director of South Asia Initiatives at ASPI.
